Milarepa - The Cotton Clad One

Milarepa’s life, which has enthralled Tibetans for the past thousand years, is an epic tale presenting the remarkable and inspiring story of the 11th century saint Milarepa, the most illustrious poet and yogi in Tibet’s history.
Born into a family of great wealth and raised with loving kindness, ‘Thopoga’ Milarepa as was named, loses everything to an unscrupulous aunt and uncle who virtually enslave him, his mother and sister upon his father’s death.

Powerless, penniless and persecuted, White Jewel, Thopaga’s mother, begins a quest for vengeance and it is in the youthful Thopaga that she finds not only a devoted son but also a ready instrument of revenge.
She sells the last of her possessions and instructs him to seek out a master of sorcery in order to acquire the skills to destroy his uncle, his aunt and their families. He masters the black arts and through his sorcery causes great destruction and death.
Victory over his enemies brings deep remorse as he is confronted by his conscience and his victims weeping over their losses. Grief stricken over his evil actions and shaken to his core, he renounces black magic and sets out in search of a teacher who can deliver him from his dark path.
